Nickel the turtle at Chicago's Shedd Aquarium. So named because upon her a rescue, the vets found a nickel in her throat, Nickel's hind legs are paralyzed from a run-in with a motor boat in the Gulf of Mexico. She seems to swim well enough in the giant "Carribean Sea" tank, though. To stay still, I pressed the lens filter ring right up against the glass in these aquarium shots. At 1/5 second, a turtle is one of the few cooperative subjects. D70.
